An area ranging from Bodega Bay to Point Sur, a very dense concentration of great white sharks. This area is known as the Red Triangle.
This area is a major habitat for large marine mammals. Harbor seals, sea lions, etc. Great white sharks eat these animals. Sounds like sharks following the food. The great white shark is known for attacking humans the most. This region has seen over 1/3 of the USA’s shark attacks from great white sharks. 1/10 of the world’s great white shark attacks have occurred here. That said, one is more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a shark.
The Bay Area region is a highly populated area with large amounts of maritime-related recreation. Surfing, diving, swimming, sailing, etc. Being a highly population region, the risk of shark attacks taking place is always there.
This video will explain the Red Triangle.
